The repercussions the Corean War had on North American internal policy

The study investigates the repercussions the Corean War had on North American internal policy, strongly influenced by McCarthyism. The idelogical foundations for this movement can be found in the resentment a large segment of society felt against the unfulfilled promises of the New Deal. Resentment was also promoted by espionage incidents which unleashed hysteria based on the existence of fith columnists among Americans. The main consequence was the creation of investigation committees, which McCarthyism exploited to create National Security Acts which, in turn, speeded up the declaration of the Corean War. North American society, frustated and disenchanted by their ruling classes, found a facile response- McCarthysism.
